Mames Babegenush & LiveStrings plays up to klezmer ball at the 8th Jewish Culture Festival. Special guest Socalled.
Mames Babegenush is east that meets north.
Strong Scandinavian roots intertwined with the sparkling dance music of Eastern Europe, from the mood among Nordic pinetrees to colourful weddings in Romania, Mames Babegenush's music conveys a feeling of both melancholy and ecstatic joy. After the band was formed in Copenhagen in 2004, the six-man ensemble displaying fresh sound and courageous musical expressions has taken both audience as well as critics by storm.
Live on the stage, Mames Babegenush is a unique acquaintance that unfolds an exciting and dynamic universe that has never been heard or seen before. Throughout their career, the group has played at some of the most legendary venues and festivals around the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, Bergen International Festival, the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Chicago World Music Festival, Roskilde Festival and the venue Paradiso in Amsterdam. Mames Babegenush has also appeared with a number of Danish and international artists such as Trentemøller, David Krakauer (USA), Gogol Bordello (USA), SoCalled (Canada), Yuri Yunakov (Bulgaria / USA), The William Blakes and many more.
At this concert Mames Babegenush performs together with LiveStrings Quartet, whose passion contributes to this concert. They have played together with Lukas Graham, Rasmus Seebach, Michael Bublé, Outlandish, and many more.
And as a special treat to our audience, Socalled, the world famous Yiddish rapper will grace the performance. We have already experienced Socalled at our New Year's concert 2008 when he performed with David Krakauer and Klezmer Madness. We are thrilled that he will join Mames at this memorable concert.
