JCC presents two young talented musicians from Lithuania and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Nadia Okrusko, born in Vilnius, Lithuania, started playing piano at the age of 5 and continued studying in Lithuania and later at  St Petersburg Conservatory. In 2008 she won 1st prize at a Bach competition in New York. Since 2015 she lives and studies in Copenhagen, finishing masters degree at Royal Danish Music academy in June 2018 under prof. Niklas Sivelöw.

Nadia has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician around Europe, also Mexico, in the US and China.

 

David Merlin Lewin, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he began studying violin at the age of 3  and then graduated with highest honors in the fields of violin, chamber music and composition. He continued his studies at Rotterdam's Conservatory. He is also a self-taught pianist and composer and recorded the album "Youthful Impressions" featuring original works for piano.

He has appeared in several emblematic concert halls around the world such as Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Berlin Philharmonie, Concertgebow Amsterdam, Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Maryland university and Bard College Concert Halls among others.

The duo’s programme encompasses Jewish classical music by Ernst Bloch, Max Bruch, Mendelssohn and Bonaime, but also som Yiddish classics as Rozhinkes mit Mandeln, Eli Eli, Schindler’s List and the music from Fiddler on the Roof.
