The 2015 historical drama depicts the life of Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara, sometimes called the  Schindler of Japan (Toshiaki Karasawa), who was appointed vice-consul and later consul in Lithuania and served there 1939-1940 and saved the lives of som 6.000 Jewish refugees by issuing them transit visas to the Japanese Empire.

Caught between the unbending policies of his beloved country now bound by treaty with Nazi Germany and his awakening moral responsibilities, we follow his life from his early days in Manchuria to his eventual posting in Lithuania and his appointment with his destiny which would forever brand him a hero.
